We're in that weird in between season where we'll see bits of spring with allergies, but cold and flu season is still lingering. Here are five natural remedies that will help keep your allergies at bay and your immune system boosted.

Nutritional Yeast

Nutritional yeast is similar to yeast that's used to make bread, but it's full of nutrients like B vitamins, especially B12. Studies have shown that just a teaspoon a day will reduce symptoms of allergies and boost your immune system. Nutritional yeast has a cheesy, nutty flavor and can be used in dishes like vegan mac and cheese, avocado toast or just sprinkled on top of pasta or a salad.

Ginger Tea

When our allergies are acting up or we get sick it creates inflammation in our body. Ginger is one of the best anti-inflammatories along with other health benefits. Ginger tea is very easy to make and cost effective! To make it. cut a few slices of fresh ginger root. Add to a coffee or tea cup and pour hot water over it. Allow it to steep for a few minutes and then enjoy!

Blow Your Nose or Use a Neti Pot

Blowing your nose helps to get rid of some of the bacteria that's living in the mucus that could cause you to not feel well. A Neti pot can also help clear the nasal passages rinsing debris and mucus. If you do use a Neti pot make sure it's sanitized well. It's recommended to use 1/4 tsp non-iodized salt with warm filtered water.

Apple Cider Vinegar Turmeric Water

This is one of my go-to remedies. It's not only good for boosting the immune system, but also helps fight allergies and reduce inflammation. I recommend adding 1 – 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water with 1/8th-1/4th tsp Turmeric. Start out on the lower end and work your way up. It's definitely an acquired taste! Make sure to add a little bit of black pepper to help the body absorb the turmeric better.

Do a Spring Cleaning

Dust, pet dander, pollen – these can all be triggers for allergies and they all can linger in our house. This is why it's good to make sure to clean and dust. I like using microfiber cloths to easily and quickly dust when needed. It's non-toxic and you don't have to even use a cleaning product with it. I just wipe mine across the dust and it picks it all up!
