ChocolateCherryProteinSmoothie This smoothie is one decadent way to get your greens and protein in first thing in the morning. This seriously tastes like dessert for breakfast, and it's so filling! Cacao always boosts my mood so I love starting my days with it. Cherries do some amazing things for your health so this smoothie is loaded with goodness.

Some of the benefits you'll get with this smoothie include: increase in energy, reduced stress levels, fights inflammation and helps lower cholesterol. Trust me, you will never know it contains spinach… not even by the looks of it! It's a great recipe to sneak in some greens in the little ones or a stubborn veggie hater.

I like to use hemp seeds and flaxseeds as protein. You'd be surprised how they add up. A scoop of protein powder could be added to this too. I suggest using an organic, raw, plant-based powder. Make sure to read the ingredient labels of protein powders. Some contain strange ingredients and a lot of the non-organic ones have tested for toxins and heavy metals in them.

CHOCOLATE CHERRY PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

Please use all organic ingredients when possible!

  • Blend all the ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy.
  • Add ice cubes if desired. I usually add 4-5 cubes and blend again.
  • NOTE: If you're not using a high speed blender try soaking your dates in warm water a few minutes before. Also blend the spinach and almond milk together first. Then add everything it else and blend again.
