Oat milk is currently one of the most popular dairy-free milks on the market, but it's pretty pricey! Good news is it's easy to make with just two ingredients, oats and water. A lot of the ones in stores use additives and preservatives, plus there's not a lot of organic options so when you make it yourself you know exactly what's going in it.

I recommend using organic oats as conventional oats are heavily sprayed with pesticides. Try adding a date or some maple syrup for a little sweetness. Some might like adding in vanilla extract or salt. Either way, making your own oat milk ensures you know exactly what's going in it, and it will save you money!

Equipment

  • 1 Blender

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Oats (gluten-free if needed)
  • 4 cups Water

optional

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients in the blender and blend for about 30 seconds. Don't blend too long or it can turn the milk slimy. Pour oat milk in a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a large bowl. If you find your milk gets slimy try to blend and strain twice. This milk will last up to 5 days in the refrigerator. If it smells funny or different, it means it's going bad.
