CinnamonBananaKaleSmoothieIf you're not a fan of eating kale then maybe try drinking it. This Cinnamon Banana Kale Smoothie tastes like a sweet treat! It's naturally sweetened, dairy-free and full of plant-based protein. Consuming kale can drastically reduce your chance of developing Glaucoma, which is the world's second leading cause of blindness.  Use this kale smoothie as a preventive to not only keep your eyes healthy, but your whole body as it's one of the healthiest things you can eat.

Kale isn't the only thing that makes this smoothie healthy. Dates have shown to improve digestion, lower cholesterol and help decrease inflammation. If you'd like a little more protein in this smoothie then add in a tablespoon or two of hemp or flax seeds.  You also want to always make sure to have a good fat in your smoothies as it will help your body absorb all the nutrients. The seeds will account for good fat if you don't have any avocado available.

Smoothies are a great way to start your day as it will help fuel your body for the rest of the day.

Ingredients

  • Large Handful Kale
  • 1 cup Almond Milk or other non-dairy milk
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 4-5 Dates pitted
  • 1/4 Avocado
  • 1-2 tbsp flax seeds or hemp seeds optional for added protein
  • 3-5 Ice Cubes optional

Instructions

  • First blend kale and almond milk.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and blend again until smooth and creamy.
  • Make sure to taste before serving. You might want to adjust some of the ingredients. I like to blend a few ice cubes in it at the end as well. A small splash of vanilla would also be yummy!
